Homeworld:
Cataclysm was originally developed in 2000 as an expansion of Homeworld, but was released as a stand-alone game.
Though it uses the same engine as its predecessor, several changes were made such as: the ability to toggle time
compression between normal speed and eight times faster; ship upgrades (improving armor and adding new abilities),
Command Ships and Carriers are given the ability to add external modules for ship research and fleet support; fuel was
completely eliminated from the game and finally the sensor display could be used to issue attack orders to units.
The game also introduced new notable 3D features such as moving parts and transforming ships.
The story focuses
on the struggles of Kiith Somtaaw, a minor clan amongst the Kushan, as they unwittingly release a deadly menace known as
The Beast on the galaxy and seek to contain it. The Turanic Raiders, Bentusi, and Imperialist and Republican Taiidan
also appear.

Notes:
All performance and rendering issues have been fixed.
Resolution has
been manually set to 1280x800.
If the game should not start because of that you can open the user.reg file in the
games preferences folder, search for homeworld entries and then change the resolution (hex values).

If you're
running OS X 10.7.5 or later you will have to upgrade to the latest Wineskin version manually in order to be able to
play the game.

To do so simply unzip and install the included Wineskin-2.5.9.app-Installer and then hold down
the option key while launching the downloaded port - this will bring up ther Wineskin config dialog - next navigate to
"Advanced"->"Tools" and click the Update Wrapper button. 

You should now be able to
run the port again.

Known Issues:
Multiplayer has not been tested - no issues detected as of
yet.

 

Please note that this game has not been tested on Macs with GMA 950 chips, but it is likely to work.
